Kevin Bourne

Kevin Bourne is a Montreal based jazz guitarist and graduate of the Jazz Faculty Program at McGill University.

Most recently, Kevin has been performing onboard the NCL Norwegian Sun as the guitarist for the ship’s showband, playing with artists from all over the world.

The most recent musical theatre productions Kevin has played guitar in was Bonnie and Clyde by Contact Theatre and Hedwig and the Angry Inch by In the Wings Promotions. Kevin has been as a freelance teacher for the past six years and has been working with the Dollard Centre for the Arts since September 2018.

The Music Spring Session runs online for 10 weeks Jan. 9 to Mar. 16, 2021.

For children (7+), teens and adults

A creative course that discusses songs and their structure. Young children will participate in rhyming words and making melodies while learning the major scale. Older children will do writing exercises to develop their lyric talent and learn chord progressions. Musicians/songwriters will have their work critiqued and will be encouraged to compare and create different styles of music. No formal training necessary. All young children must be at reading level.

Sherrie started singing at the age of five. Her professional career began at eighteen, which included travelling across the country and abroad. While studying classical singing with Jocelyne Fleury-Coutu, one of two pop albums she co-wrote was released by an independent record label. Her voice has been featured in several radio commercials and on the recordings of other artists.

Courses are offered on various days of the week in blocks of ½ hour or 1 hour each.

Karen Ho has an MA in Musicology from Université de Montréal and a Graduate Certificate in Music therapy from Concordia University. A teacher since 2003, she loves to share her experience of music with students of all ages and abilities. Never one to shy away from challenges, Karen is very resourceful and can adapt almost anything to a student’s interest. She can prepare her students to do Royal Conservatory exams. When she’s not teaching, she is most likely to be found travelling on epic cross-country road trips with her hairless and full of beans dog Juniper.

Jelani Corbie started playing piano at the age of 7 and has been involved with music for over 30 years. In high school, he studied with the Royal Conservatory of Music, achieving a grade 7 diploma in piano and a music award. He holds a DEC in Popular Music and an ACE in Audio Recording Technology from Vanier College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Music from Concordia University. Jelani has been teaching at the Dollard Centre for the Arts since 2012. He is also a DJ and has just recently completed vocational studies in Business.

Émilie Barrette

Émilie Barrette

Émilie Barrette has a degree from l’École supérieure de ballet du Québec (ESBQ) and from the Ballet Divertimento’s College program.

She has a bachelor’s degree in communications and history from l’Université de Montréal and has completed the Alternate Route training program at the National Centre for Dance Therapy (NCDT), a division of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. She has started her master’s degree at the Université du Québec à Montréal to enrich her practice of adapted dance.

She attended several continuing education training programs in Montreal and elsewhere such as the Adaptive Dance Teachers Training at the Boston Ballet. At the CNDT, she was part of several projects involving children, teenagers, and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and/or or intellectual disabilities.

Since 2010, she has been teaching the recreational program for children at the junior division of the ESBQ. She is also participating in the Casse-Noisette ballet production as the teacher of the students.

Kevin Bourne

Kevin Bourne

Kevin Bourne is a Montreal based jazz guitarist and graduate of the Jazz Faculty Program at McGill University.

Most recently, Kevin has been performing onboard the NCL Norwegian Sun as the guitarist for the ship’s showband, playing with artists from all over the world.

The most recent musical theatre productions Kevin has played guitar in was Bonnie and Clyde by Contact Theatre and Hedwig and the Angry Inch by In the Wings Promotions. Kevin has been as a freelance teacher for the past six years and has been working with the Dollard Centre for the Arts since September 2018.

Megan Bradley

Megan Bradley wears a few hats in life and at the Dollard Centre for the Arts. She is currently the Summer Fine Arts Camp Director and organizes special events at the DCA like the annual Holiday Market but started as a Theatre teacher in 2006. She studied Professional Theatre and had the privilege of working in the Montreal Theatre community for six years before studying to become a Registered Massage Therapist and becoming a mother of two.

Jelani Corbie

Jelani Corbie

Jelani Corbie started playing piano at the age of 7 and has been involved with music for over 30 years. In high school, he studied with the Royal Conservatory of Music, achieving a grade 7 diploma in piano and a music award. He holds a DEC in Popular Music and an ACE in Audio Recording Technology from Vanier College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Music from Concordia University. Jelani has been teaching at the Dollard Centre for the Arts since 2012. He is also a DJ and has just recently completed vocational studies in Business.

Caroline Di Nunzio

Caroline Di Nunzio

Born and raised in a town just outside of Montreal, Caroline Di Nunzio grew up with a big family who adored the arts. Caroline attended oil painting classes from a young age. This love followed her as she went on to study Creative Arts at Dawson College and then Art Education at Concordia University, where her two passions combined. When she is not teaching art or painting, Caroline works at the Lester B. Pearson School Board as a Special Education Technician. Caroline also sells her art, whether it’s painting commissions on canvas or murals at a local restaurant.

Stewart Fletcher

Stewart Fletcher

A renowned contemporary artist, Stewart Fletcher has a degree in Fine Arts from John Abbott College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. Fletcher’s paintings, drawings, and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years, and his artwork is part of several international public and private collections.  He is in the studio daily and has an art gallery open to the public.

Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts that go beyond the representational image. He is also passionate about metaphysics, compositional space, and the interplay between colours. He often uses humour and satire to convey his message.

One must spend time with the artist to understand all the subtleties in his work and the passion that inhabits him.

Janette Haggar

Janette Haggar has been teaching at the Dollard Centre for the Arts since 1980. She has a DEC in Ceramics Technology from John Abbott, a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts/Education, and a Masters in Art Education from Concordia University. She has taught art from preschool to university level and is now the director of the Children’s Art Programming at the Dollard Centre for the Arts.

Samantha “Sam I Am Montolla” Hinds

SAM I AM MONTOLLA aka Princess Shayla is an artist in motion; her love of music led her to singing, songwriting and dancing. Started from the age of 3 in West Indian cultural dances, (Soca, Calypso, and Reggae), then with Jazz ballet but found her passion for Hip Hop dance. She was a member of Outer Limits Hip Hop crew and she is one of the first Waackers/Waacking teachers in Montreal as part of the well-known group The Chapter. She has won and judged various dance battles in Hip Hop, Waacking and All Styles.

She teaches and mentors people of all ages, working at Chalet Kent, encouraging young women, with groups such as Daughters of Rhythm, S.A.M. & Da Sistaz and Dynamic Flows. She is a Montreal artist with diversity and it’s apparent in her style.

Karen Ho

Karen Ho has an MA in Musicology from Université de Montréal and a Graduate Certificate in Music therapy from Concordia University. A teacher since 2003, she loves to share her experience of music with students of all ages and abilities. Never one to shy away from challenges, Karen is very resourceful and can adapt almost anything to a student’s interest. She can prepare her students to do Royal Conservatory exams. When she’s not teaching, she is most likely to be found travelling on epic cross-country road trips with her hairless and full of beans dog Juniper.

Jacinta Ionno

Jacinta Ionno is a Montreal-based artist with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from McGill University and a Commercial Arts Degree from the Academy of Art.

She is the past president and juried member of the Artist Association of Dollard and an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Italian Cultural Center of Quebec.

Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries and community centers in Canada. She has won numerous awards for her oil paintings, including her painting ‘Pears in a Crystal Bowl,’ which earned her an ‘Award of Excellence’ in a juried show in Vancouver for the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Jacinta teaches oil painting and drawing at her home studio, at the Dollard des Ormeaux Senior’s Club, Dollard Centre for the Arts and Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts.

Sherrie Marginean

Sherrie Marginean

Sherrie Marginean is a singer, songwriter, voice, and piano teacher with over twenty-five years’ experience. Understanding the integral role that humour plays in the performance of her students, her philosophy is, “We laugh, we focus, we achieve!”

Sherrie started singing at the age of five. Her professional career began at eighteen, which included travelling across the country and abroad. While studying classical singing with Jocelyne Fleury-Coutu, one of two pop albums she co-wrote was released by an independent record label. Her voice has been featured in several radio commercials and on the recordings of other artists.

A member of the Lakeshore Artists’ Association, a founding member of the Dollard Artists’ Association and long-time member of the Dorval Artists’ Association, Renée teaches, painting and experiments with various papers and techniques not only to be more creative in her work, but to inspire her students to improve in theirs. Her classes allow students to explore and develop their creativity as well as master the finer points of watercolour techniques. “Each person is an individual, and their work must reflect their individuality. Born in Spain, Ana Ruiz began studying belly dance two decades ago and attended many workshops throughout Eastern Canada with such international stars as Jalilah and Serena Ramzy. She continues to travel to her homeland yearly to participate in instructor’s workshops. Ruiz has been teaching since 2007 and is also the author of several books including, The Ancient Art of Belly Dance.

Linda Beck Sidel

Linda Beck Sidel creates acrylic paintings based on photography of her travels and of objects/subjects that interest her. These photos provide her with a vast array of imagery from which she derives her inspiration. To create her paintings, Linda uses the image transfer process, a technique that allows her to marry two types of creative methods, which is made possible by advances in acrylic paint technology. She uses it as a form of visual elaboration, to create a relationship between her two passions, photography, and painting.

By transforming these images with paint, she shares her observations through her emotional colour palette. It becomes a way for her to create impressions that will perhaps jog a viewer’s memory of other places, experiences, or moods.

Geneviève Sideleau

Genevieve Sideleau lives and works in Montreal, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. She has exhibited in Montreal, Ottawa, Northwest Territories, Boston, South Korea, and Serbia with a multidisciplinary practise involving painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, and object-based work. Her practice communicates a vision of the human condition and focuses on society’s overlooked and discarded.

Sideleau is an art instructor in several art centers in Montreal. You can find her work in private and public collections across Canada, the United-States, and abroad.

Konstantin Vleitchkov

Konstantin Velitchkov has a Master’s Degree with Honours in Sculpture and Ceramics from the Fine Arts Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Specialized in Monumental Sculpture in Berlin, Germany, Konstantin has exhibited in solo and group expositions in Europe and Canada. Konstantin has been an art instructor in Canada for over 25 years. He has been a teacher at FACE. High School in Montreal since 1997. He has taught adult classes in sculpture, drawing, painting, and ceramics at the Stewart Hall Cultural Center, the Saidye Bronfman, School of Fine Arts, and now the Dollard Centre for the Arts.

Kathryn Whitehead

Kathryn Whitehead started at the Dollard Centre for the Arts as a camp staff member in 2015. She recently took on the role of Technical Coordinator, helping in the Galerie de la Ville and working the kilns. Outside of the office, Kathryn is an avid knitter, loves spending time in the country, drinking tea and doing puzzles with her cat. Guess how old she is?
